Zitas Café – Part 1: Reverse Glass Window Signage

Located in South Yarra, Zitas Café wanted to elevate its street presence with timeless, handcrafted detail. I was engaged to design and paint custom window signage directly onto the glass using traditional reverse-glass techniques. The design was applied in reverse using high-opacity lettering enamel, allowing the final result to show through with clarity and durability from the outside.

The work required careful layering and precision to maintain clean linework and a vibrant finish, all while working backwards—mirrored from the inside of the window. This method not only protects the paint from weathering but also adds a polished, vintage-inspired character to the shopfront.

The end result is a refined, handcrafted touch that sets the tone for the café’s warm and welcoming vibe, enhancing curb appeal while maintaining visibility into the space.
